Working in Animal with Gabrielle Moleta -

Blurring the lines between the human and the non-human animal

OCTOBER 31-November 02

A weekend workshop with Gabrielle Moleta in her detailed method to creating character through working in animal.

“To act is to transform” and this approach gives the actor/performer a physical method of work, with an animal or bird as the source.  You can read about the approach,  ‘Transformation and Imaginative Improvisation’,’, here.

Timings:

Friday 31st October 6.30pm- 9.30pm

Saturday 1st November 10- 2pm

Sunday 2nd November 10- 5pm

£209 (or £159 early bird if paid before 30 September 2025 - save £50!)

Who is it for: It’s for actors, performers, makers, writers, dancers, artists. All bodies are good bodies. There is no upper age limit, but participants must be over 18.

If you have worked with Gabrielle before and want a chance to dive back in, explore a new animal - or build on an animal you have already worked on with her - sharpening your instincts for character creation this is a perfect weekend for you.

If you haven't  worked with Gabrielle before, this is the workshop to start with - a rare chance to learn and instill the groundwork and open the way for transformation towards character creation.

Working with Gabrielle, a ‘master of her craft’, you will discover this detailed, imaginative approach to enabling transformation through her specific approach in animal. This approach has its roots in the work of Jacques Copeau, and has been developed over the last century through a direct lineage of teachers leading to Gabrielle.

You will develop new habits, come to new discoveries for character creation – both physical and imaginative- through an intensive and nurturing process.

Gabrielle has an uncanny and astute knowledge of the body (and body-mind relationship) as a performance tool and is a master at guiding actors in how to access new ranges in their own work. Her work in (Animal) Transformation is unlike any I have come across. - Fay Simpson, Lucid Body founder

What we will cover:

·       Physical preparatory exercises

·       Approaches to animal observation

·       A step by step approach to working in an animal

·       Developing the human from the animal
